February 2023
As part of our 'Passport Around The World' day, we ventured off to Greece and began travel guides, first researching all about Greek Culture, the weather, history and the land using our map work and research skills.
Afterwards we created our own travel brochures. We then applied our D & T skills and knowledge to create a healthy Greek Salad, our own tzatziki dip and chicken gyros.
Finally we learnt a tradition Greek dance and had great fun performing it in the class.
As scientists, we have been learning about the Earth, Moon and Sun and how they move in relation with one another. To understand this better and how we get day and night, we made our own models using a torch, globe and paper made moon. We also had fun creating our own human solar system in the hall to understand how they orbit and their distances in relation to one another and the Sun. I think Topaz most enjoyed learning the phases of the moon song, where they earned science and a rap, as well as when they got to meet a scientist and travel to Mars through zoom!
